At the Board of Directors’ decision, the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine (SMPU) established an EU Integration Committee to consolidate the efforts of Ukraine’s dairy sector stakeholders in the EU integration process. The Committee aims to protect the interests of the domestic dairy industry and ensure effective and balanced cooperation with European partners.
The Committee will cooperate with the Government of Ukraine, Ukrainian and European experts, partners, and sectoral associations. Its experts are developing a Roadmap outlining the steps required to integrate Ukraine’s dairy sector into the European “lactosphere,” including defined timelines and necessary resources. In 2024–2025, the Committee plans to analyse discrepancies between Ukrainian and EU legislation in the dairy sector and to prepare recommendations on the required amendments to laws and regulatory acts.
The SMPU EU Integration Committee will also provide advisory support to Ukrainian milk producers and processors, facilitate access to financing and investment, and promote Ukrainian dairy products on the EU market. Its activities will include participation in international exhibitions and organising trade missions. The European Dairy Association (EDA), with which SMPU has long maintained successful cooperation, is a key partner of the EU Integration Committee.
