Continuing the summary of the #DairyBusiness Conference 2025, we would like to highlight the panel discussion “Prospects for International Trade in Dairy Products,” moderated by Iryna Vysotska, Coordinator of the “Dairy Sector” component of QFTP, and extend our gratitude to the participants for their engaging and substantive contributions.
Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Trade Representative of Ukraine, addressed the audience with a welcome speech and shared insights regarding the updated version of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement (DCFTA). Mr. Kachka noted the nuances of the latest negotiations, outlined the new advantages of the Agreement, and listened to feedback from the business community.
Jukka Likitalo, Secretary General of Eucolait, continued the discussion on the new DCFTA, focusing on its technical aspects: new #quotas, #licensing procedures for importers, application allocation, and #deposit management.
The panel’s key visionary was Véronique Aguera, Senior Consultant GIRA – A Girag & Associates Company, who presented modeled #trends for the global dairy market in 2030. It was particularly interesting to hear the underlying factors driving sustained demand for dairy proteins, especially #whey proteins (including mention even of the #GLP1 factor). Véronique’s presentation added #optimism regarding future prospects, as current global price trends indicate a downward trajectory—mirroring the situation in Ukraine, where the cost of raw milk and dairy commodities is also declining.
Maks Fasteyev, Infagro project partner and adviser to EU Integration Committee of Ukrainian Dairy, spoke about trade balances in the Ukrainian dairy market and their current impact on price developments. Among the key slides was a demonstration of the steady growth in exports of Ukrainian addedvalue products to the EU—further evidence that Ukrainian dairy products are high-quality and in demand.
Despite declining trade volumes, intense competition, and logistical challenges, Kazakhstan remains a key market for Ukrainian dairy exports. In response to business inquiries, Olga Gvozdyova, Advisor to the Entrepreneurship and Export Promotion Office (Ukraine), presented a study on domestic and foreign trade trends in dairy products within the country.
