The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has updated the national plan within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program, synchronising it with the requirements and obligations necessary for accession to the European Union. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this on June 11.

As part of the changes, the government approved amendments to the national plan, which were developed jointly with the European Commission, representatives of central executive bodies, and people’s deputies. 35 existing steps were updated, and 26 new tasks were added. The main emphasis was placed on the rule of law, the development of the energy sector, corporate governance, and other key areas.

Financial support and prospects

The updated plan includes indicators that correspond to Ukraine’s European integration obligations, as well as indicators of the EU membership negotiation process. They take into account the adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to EU standards. As Yulia Svyrydenko noted, this provides a basis for attracting additional financial assistance of 8.35 billion euros within the framework of the Ukraine Support Loan.

The Ministry of Economy clarified that the work to update the plan lasted several months and involved the active participation of the European Commission, government representatives, people’s deputies, and other stakeholders. The main goal is to strengthen the connection between the Plan for Ukraine and the EU accession process.

On June 8, the European Commission approved the next tranche for Ukraine, amounting to 2.8 billion euros, within the framework of the Ukraine Facility program. It should be noted that this financial support instrument was introduced in 2024 for a period of 4 years, and the total financing for Ukraine amounts to about 50 billion euros.
